Round Square is a worldwide association of more than 90 schools across five continents sharing unique and ambitious goals. Students that attend a Round Square school make commitments that go beyond academic excellence. Participation in community service, work projects, exchange programmes and adventures are encouraged. This often takes students half way around the world.
Round Square is open to all High School learners and many take up this challenge of involvement and commitment. The Grade 11 class elects a committee to run the Round Square programme for the year.
There are six pillars around which Round Square schools function. The common goal is to develop every student into a whole person through academic, physical, cultural and spiritual experience. These six pillars are Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Delegates from the school attend the annual Round Square Conferences for the High School. The aim of Round Square at St George's is centred on a quote from Kurt Hahn, the Round Square founder: “There is more in each of us than we think – more courage, more strength and more compassion”.
