Pre-primary/Foundation Phase Aftercare

The Aftercare Facility is situated in Bloemendal Lodge and caters for approximately 120 children from our Pre-Primary and Foundation Phase.

We provide responsible, caring supervision for our children during after-school hours from Mon-Thurs
13h30 to 18h00 and Fri until 17h15.

We offer a programme of age-appropriate activities in a safe, structured and positive environment.  Our facilities include climbing apparatus, slides, a sand pit, swings, a see saw etc. for outdoor play.  Indoors we have toys, books, blocks, puzzles, drawing, painting, colouring in, a TV and Video..

We have a “quiet time” for supervised homework and reading.  (Parents must indicate if they would like their child to be placed in the supervised homework facility.  Parents are, however, still responsible for checking and signing homework diaries daily).  The children are also able to use the fields for a good run-around from time to time.

Our supervisors are trained and experienced in early childhood development and are aware of each individual child’s needs and abilities.  Supervisors attend various courses from time to time, including First Aid and Safety.

We have an “open door” policy and welcome any suggestions, which could be implemented to improve the facility.

SPECIFICS

Afternoon Tea
The children are served sandwiches, hot chocolate, biscuits, juice etc between 14h30 and 14h45.

Collection of Children
Parents are expected to collect their children from Aftercare personally.  If someone else is to collect them Aftercare must be advised.  An additional charge of R20 (partial afternoon) and R100 (full time) is levied for learners not collected on time.

Casual Attendance
Casual attendance is for emergencies only and is available at a cost of R50.00 per day.  There is no hourly rate.

Withdrawal from Aftercare
One term’s notice is required for withdrawal of your child from Aftercare, or for a change of hours from part-time to full-time.

Security
The outside gate will be kept locked whilst the children are indoors.  During free-play outdoors it will be unlocked but closed.  Please ensure you close the gate when entering or leaving the premises.
